PAYMENT
Tuition may be paid in person, by mail, over the phone, or online. We require a valid credit card kept on file. Any fees outstanding on the due date will be auto paid to the credit card on file. For your convenience, we offer online management of your dance account. Dance fees will be posted to the Parent Portal and may be paid online. DISCOUNTS
Multi class discount:
5% at three classes, 10 % at six classes. Classes are calculated per family.
Military Discount:
We offer a tuition discount of 15% for families with a parent who is currently serving active duty in the military.
REGISTRATION FEE
$35 per student, $5 each additional student
REFUND POLICY
Tuition and registration fees are non refundable. A credit may be issued for future use if your dancer is unable to continue in his/her enrolled class.
RETURNED CHECKS
$35 is charged each time a check is re-deposited.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are available to all students for $30 per half hour. Check at front desk for more info.

ATTENDANCE
Consistent attendance is important to a students’ growth as well as to the curriculum of the entire class. Please call studio to inform of absence. Classes begin on time with all students ready to dance.
MAKE-UP CLASSES
Absences due to illness or family emergency may be made up during the current term. Please ask your current instructor if you would like a recommendation for an appropriate class. Please notify Steps Dance Center in advance if you plan on attending a make-up class.
WEATHER CLOSURE POLICY
If District 204 is closed for weather related problems, Steps Dance Center will be closed. In the case of severe weather, we will send an e-mail and change our voicemail. We will also post to our Facebook and Twitter pages. Students will be able to make up a class missed for severe weather at another time. Please speak to your instructor for a recommendation for an appropriate class. We do not offer credit or refunds for missed classes due to severe weather.
CLASS SIZE
Class size limits are determined by the style of dance, age of student, and size of studio space. We try to keep the classes at a size that ensures each dancer will receive the attention they need. Larger classes often have a teaching assistant. If a class has reached full capacity, you may join a waiting list. Steps reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment.
FOOD & DRINK
No gum, food or drink in dance rooms. Absolutely no nut products are permitted in the studio. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle. Water bottles are available for purchase at the front desk. We also have a drinking fountain in the back of the studio between rooms E and F.
ATTIRE FOR DANCERS
Dancers must abide by the Steps Dance Center dress code. If a student arrives for class not wearing the appropriate attire they will not be able to participate in the class for that day. Our dress code is in place for safety, professionalism, and for the optimal training of the dancer. Hair must be pulled back neatly away from the face. Ballet classes must have their hair secured in a bun. No jewelry is permitted.
Ballet
Females: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled into a neat bun. No exceptions. Males: Black dance pants, white shirt, black shoe.
Dance Exploration
Pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes.
Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical
Hot shorts, jazz pants, leggings. Tight fitting tanks, half tops. No T-shirts or sweatpants.
Hip-Hop
Comfortable clothing (sweats, basketball shorts, t-shirt, leggings). Clean sneakers (not to be worn outside).
Acro
Leotard, unitard, or fitted dance top and hot shorts. Bare feet.

Students will learn ballet based technique (turns, leaps, jumps) while learning to put them together in exciting, energetic combinations. Students will get to experience traditional jazz (Broadway, Fosse, Giordano) to Contemporary style jazz.
Students will learn the traditional form of dance that trains the body and the mind. They will develop flexibility, strength, control, coordination, line and musicality. Ballet is the foundation of all styles of dance and a must for any aspiring dancer!
Steps hip hop classes explore multiple styles of the culture and all the current moves! Students will study both new school (jazz funk, krump, etc. ) to old school (popping, locking, breaking, whacking, voguing , etc… ) These classes will be sure to get you groovin’ with all the latest moves!
Our tap classes focus on all the different styles of tap. Students can experience a range from the always entertaining Broadway style to the modern day style of hoofing.
Contemporary dance is a fusion of current dance styles including jazz, ballet, and modern technique. Dancers will enjoy the freedom of expression used through a contemporary warm-up, improvisation, and choreography.
A great supplement to any dance education as a way to gain strength and flexibility. Students will begin to learn tumbling skills and passes, using mats designed for their safety.
Our Dance Exploration classes will introduce young dancers to movement, rhythm, and creativity in this Tap & Ballet combo class. Dancers will perform in our Holiday Show in December as well as in two pieces in our annual recital.
Attire: Pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes.
Lyrical combines the beauty of ballet with the strength of jazz creating a unique style of dance. This technique focuses on strength, technique, fluidity, balance extension and emotion. Choreography uses movement and expression to convey the meaning of the lyrics of the music or the mood of the song. These classes are choreography-focused, and also include warm-up, strengthening, improvisation.
Attire: Tight-fitting tops/tanks, leotard, shorts, or pants. Jazz or lyrical shoes.
Kidz Jazz & Hip Hop is a combination class that will get your dancer moving & grooving! Dancers will learn rhythm & balance while dancing to upbeat hits!
