FAQs for Age 2 Families

Please reach us at info@stepsdancecenteronline.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Most 2 year olds are! Our Age 2 program is designed specifically for this transition — short classes, small group sizes, and instructors who specialize in gently welcoming independent little dancers. Some children step right in; others take a few weeks. Both are normal, and you'll be right in our lobby watching through our viewing windows the whole time.

Completely normal — and we're prepared for it. Our instructors are patient and never push. If your child needs you in the room for the first class or two, that's okay. If they need to sit and watch for part of class, that's okay too. We meet each child where they are and build trust at their pace.

Nope. We know 2 year olds are learning — pull-ups and diapers are welcome. Classes are only 30 minutes long, and if a break is needed mid-class, our instructors will happily bring your child out to you.

Each 30-minute class blends warm-up songs, simple dance concepts (following the leader, marching, big/small movement), props like scarves and shakers, and a calming end activity. Everything is age-appropriate and structured so toddlers stay engaged without feeling overwhelmed.

Dance Exploration: a leotard with tights or leggings, ballet shoes, and tap shoes. For Kidz Jazz & Hip Hop: comfortable athletic wear and gym shoes with non-marking soles. Hair should be pulled back.

All required attire is available at shopnimbly.com/stepsdancecenter — and our front desk team is happy to help you get set up.

Yes! Dance Exploration students perform in our winter Holiday Show and present two routines in the end-of-year recital at Neuqua Valley High School. Even at age 2, being part of a real performance gives your child a sense of pride and gives your family memories to treasure.

Once your child turns 3, they can move into our Age 3 program — with more class options including Pop Princess, Tiny Tumblers, and continued Dance Exploration and Kidz Jazz & Hip Hop. The transition is natural, and our faculty will help guide your family toward the right next step.

We are located at 4054 Fox Valley Center Drive, Aurora, IL 60504 — minutes from Naperville, Oswego, Montgomery, and Lisle. Just off Route 59 with free on-site parking. Stroller-friendly entrance and a comfortable waiting area for families. Call us at (630) 499-5678 with any questions.
