The high-energy class for kids who can't sit still. Hip Hop Tumble combines upbeat hip hop choreography with safe, progressive tumbling skills — perfect for little ones who love to move, groove, and flip.
Hip Hop Tumble is our hybrid class designed for the dancer who loves hip hop but also loves to tumble, flip, and move acrobatically. Rather than making your family choose between hip hop and acro, this class blends the two into one high-energy session.
Each class alternates between hip hop choreography and tumbling instruction — building rhythm, body awareness, strength, and foundational acro skills in parallel. Perfect for the energetic kid who's always climbing on the couch and dancing to music in the kitchen.

Absolutely. Tumbling in this class is taught through safe, progressive training — meaning your dancer only works on skills they're developmentally ready for. We use mats, spotting, and skill progressions to make sure every student builds confidence before moving to the next level. Our instructors are specifically trained in age-appropriate acro instruction.
The beginner tumbling foundation — bridges, rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and introductory walkovers. All taught at the appropriate pace for the dancer's age and ability. Students who show interest and readiness can continue developing acro skills in our dedicated Acro program as they grow.
Currently offered for Ages 4–5. The class length, music, choreography complexity, and tumbling progression are all calibrated for this specific age range.
Not at all. Hip Hop Tumble is designed as a beginner-friendly class in both disciplines. Our instructors welcome total beginners and build skills from the ground up.
Hip Hop Tumble is best for dancers who love both music and tumbling and want variety in a single class. Our standalone Acro program is better for dancers who are specifically focused on tumbling and acro skill development. Many families start with Hip Hop Tumble and transition to dedicated Acro as the dancer's interests become clearer.
Fitted athletic wear that allows free movement — a leotard with shorts or leggings is ideal. For footwear, bare feet or non-marking indoor-only gym shoes work. Hair pulled back and no jewelry (safety for the tumbling portion). Full attire guide at shopnimbly.com/stepsdancecenter.
Yes! Hip Hop Tumble students perform in our winter Holiday Show and present a routine in our end-of-year recital at Neuqua Valley High School. The choreography incorporates both hip hop movement and age-appropriate tumbling for a performance that genuinely wows.
Once your dancer is older, they can specialize into standalone Hip Hop, Acro, or Hip Hop & Breakdance classes — all of which build directly on the foundation set in Hip Hop Tumble. The combo class is a great way to see which direction your dancer naturally gravitates toward.
